In Film, entourage, jeremy piven, music on 25 May 2008 at 3:27 pm

is it true? according to the daily mail, madonna and guy richie have his and her areas of their houses. will the world one day grow weary of 50 year olds trying desparately to look 25? hopefully, richie will throw madonna over for someone who really is 25. richie, whose had an endless string of flops since hooking up with madge, is hoping that rocknrolla might revive his career. oh no, not another film with jeremy piven. luv luv luv piven on entourage. but when it comes to films, he’s at his best when playing second fiddle to john cusack. ludacris also stars.

angelina jolie shows off her tits in cannes

In Film, angelina jolie, brad pitt on 18 May 2008 at 9:16 am

my memories of new orleans, where angelina jolie and brad pitt have a place, consists primarily of the mardi gras festival and people screaming on the streets show us your tits. apparently, this is wedged into jolie’s subconscious. bild zeitung, a german newspaper catches a very pregnant jolie doing a bit of sunbathing in the south of france. didn’t she and brad get married a few months back and nobody noticed?

bill clinton only ever got 39%

In barack obama, hillary rodham clinton on 10 May 2008 at 2:14 pm

in 1992, bill clinton, who in his 2 elections never got more than 43% and 46% of the national vote, won the u.s. election with 39% of the white vote, according to boston globe. some people within the democratic party are a bit up-in-arms that hillary clinton has decided that there’s this demographic of hardworking blue collar americans, who in her mind are only white. or rather, this is what she seemingly informed u.s. today earlier this week. but we know hillary clinton, famous for misspeaking (remember how she was under sniper fire in bosnia). perhaps she was having yet another senior moment. or she was having an al gore moment.

four new clips of the new batman film

In Film, aaron eckhart, christian bale, christopher nolan, the dark knight on 10 May 2008 at 6:58 am

the last great film i saw at the sundance film festival was ‘memento,’ directed by brit, christopher nolan. choosing him to take on the dark knight series, starting with ‘batman begins’ has been nothing less than inspiring. and along with christian bale the series, which faultered under the weight of george clooney as well as ‘fat girl and robin’, has mined the original feel of the graphic novels. yahoo to take a look at 4 different theatrical trailers for the dark night along with an interview with heath ledger. i should also mention aaron eckhart, who plays two-face. i still love him in ‘friends and neighbors’ and ‘the company of men.’

summer fashion favorites

In fashion, london on 9 May 2008 at 2:38 pm

i got my first taste of summer shopping a couple of weeks ago when i nearly went mad during a sample sale in the brick lane area of east london. vivienne westwood deep-discounted. now, i’m not a vivienne westwood fan, really. as i think she had her best years in the 70s (before i was sort of around) whipping up a frenzy with the sex pistols, especial sid (r.i.p.) vicious. but if you’re wondering about what to wear this summer, look here. the daily telegraph has a nice little fashion page with lots of video. jefferson hack used to have a highly pretentious fortnightly column in this section. it almost as over-the-top as tyler brule’s column in the financial times.

obama takes north carolina by 14 points

In barack obama, hillary rodham clinton, politics on 7 May 2008 at 4:19 am

barack obama won north carolina yesterday by 14 points. as of this morning, the vote in indiana is virtually tied with hillary clinton leading by 51% to 49%. at 12.05am EST, illary was leading by about 28K votes with 91% of the vote in. but in northern indiana, the area around chicago, which includes michael jackson’s hometown of gary, only 28% of the precint had been counted and obama has been picking up 75% of the vote. this of course didn’t stop hillary from claiming victory and according to the washington post, saying “We’ve broken the tie and thanks to you its full speed on to the White House.”

mischa barton shows off her cellulite

In Film, televsion on 6 May 2008 at 1:49 pm

the daily mail has this lovely little picture of mischa (the o.c.) barton in australia doing a bit of sunbathing. she accidentially turned her ass to the camera to reveal a bit of dimple here and there. the newspaper is seemingly fascinated by revealing what stars really look like: cellulite, knobby knees, wobbly asses, balding crowns, and all.

on the eve of the european championships austria gets a lot of attention

In Uncategorized on 3 May 2008 at 3:03 pm

but it’s not the attention austria wants. the country is due to co-host the european football championships with switzerland next month. but instead of reams of footballs stories, the countries is being viewed through the prism of locked girls in cellars. 3 years ago, at the age of 18, natascha kampusch escaped from a man who had snatched her off the streets of vienna at the age of 10. now we have the unbelieveable story of josef fritzl and the daughter he kidnapped and held in a dungeon for 24 years. here’s how the european media has been covering it.

tory party gains 200 seats in uk

In boris johnson, ken livingstone, london, politics on 2 May 2008 at 12:23 pm

they are calling it black monday for the labour, as the party has lost more than 200 seats and has come in an embarassing third place. it was labour’s worst showing in 40 years and this evening, we’ll find out whether or not boris johnson, a member of the tory party, becomes the new mayor of london, replacing ken livingstone. david cameron, the head of the conservative party who is barely 40 years old, was once nagged by the media, a bit like u.s. presidential candidate barack obama, regarding his so-called inexperience.

hillary says god bless rich people

In bill o'reilly, hillary rodham clinton, politics on 2 May 2008 at 7:28 am

i have a soft place in my heart for bill o’reilly. i think rupert murdoch and foxnews saw an opening in the market and filled the vacuum. sometimes he makes valid points and raises interesting questions. but i don’t 100% agree with him or even 80% agree with him, but i think his news program is important for expanding what used to be a one-sided dialogue.

hillary clinton appeared on the ‘no spin zone’ over the course of two days, going head-to-head, so to speak, with o’reilly. it gave her an opportunity to bring up obama’s ex-pastor (who is being given a harder time by the press than any white pastor is ever given. let’s pull quotes from hillary’s minister out of context)

but the most egregious pronouncement of the interview was hillary’s quote ‘rich people. god bless us!’

moveon.org rolls out anti-mccain ad

In barack obama, john mccain, politics on 1 May 2008 at 11:37 am

moveon.org, the organization filled with hopping mad democrats has produced the ad below taunting mccain about the iraq war. will the democrats be running against george w. bush? no. but no one seems to understand this. most americans don’t think dubya when they think john mccain. but perhaps spring is a good time to do a bit of test marketing.
