according to the daily telegraph, , barack and michelle obama’s kids malia and natascha (nickname, sascha) don’t get christmas or birthday presents. according to politico, the obama kids have children don’t receive Christmas or birthday presents but birthday slumber parties instead. no mention about christmas slumber parties though.

Sounds like he has bought into the Jehovah’s Witness philosophy. I didn’t know the Muslims are like that also.
i would imagine muslims don’t give their kids christmas presents but not for the same reason the jehovah witnesses don’t.
why questioning or judging and creating more prejudices before asking and get answers from them? there always many answers to the question, why people do this or that! And not everything has its reason from religious customs! Here in Germany I know of several people and families who don´t give or get presents at all, without being religious at all, but because of questioning the commercial aspects and thinking of alternatives as spending time together, saving the money for a trip together, donating the money for aid-projects in the Third World or even for some victims in the neighbourhood, etc.
obviously you live in a secular country. we americans like our presents. that’s why we have so much credit card debt.
