most art fron antiquity that you see in western galleries was stolen. or rather countries ‘acquired’ things from greece and egypt while on expeditions or during a process of colonization. the case of italy and the getty is slightly different as we’re not discussing a situation which occured 150 years ago, but more like the curator who may have initiated the transactions is still alive and due to be tried in an italian court. that is if the mafia don’t find him first.

dennis hopper rides from st. petersburg to moscow
In Film, art, dennis hopper on 4 July 2007 at 8:46 amdennis hopper, everyone’s favourite republican, will be greeting attendees at london’s serpentine gallery for their annual summer party. next month, he’s to participate in a p.r. event for a exhibition of american art at the pushkin museum in moscow. there, he’ll meet up with jeremy irons and laurence fishburne who plan to ride their motorcycles from st. petersburg to moscow. i wonder if they plan on camping out?
